First Communion pictures will serve as a lasting memory to the family, and the Communicant alike, of a blessed day in their lives. The Communicant, regularly a younger child of seven or eight, has made the decision to enter more fully into the faith community. The pictures of this glorious day should reflect the holy, yet celebratory nature of the event. Think these five tips when taking the pictures.

1. Your child will be dressed whether in a dress or suit and may therefore be uncomfortable. Thus, the photograph should not be posed and instead should be as relaxed and natural as possible. Try to get your child to laugh before taking the pictures so they feel more at ease in an already unfamiliar uniform.

2. If you will be taking the pictures outside, look for trees or bushes that add a splash of color. This will bring out the color in your child's eyes and cheeks and will also liven up the pictures. Be sure not to take the pictures in direct sunlight, as this may cause them to look washed out.

3. Be sure to get pictures with both family members and friends. Many people will want something to remember the event, and a perfect gift is a photograph within a personalized Communion frame.

4. Try to get natural pictures while the ceremony, but be sure not to use a flash. This may distract other members of the community. Live action photos may more truly capture the real emotion of this extra day.

5. Lastly, you may want to take a concentrate pictures of the Communicant in a prayerful or somber pose. Pictures in which they are finding heavenward or are keeping a candle may look especially gorgeous in black and white.

By following these five easy steps you are sure to have fabulous pictures that will bring back happy memories for years to come.
