Panasonic recently announced it's professional Ag-Af100 Hd camcorder. The 4/3" sensor camcorder will be the first of it's kind.

Targeting amateur and professional film producers, the Ag-Af100 according to Panasonic

delivers the shallow depth of field and wider field of view of a large imager, with the flexibility and cost advantages of use with a growing line of professional quality, industry acceptable micro 4/3-inch lenses, filters and adapters"

While there hasn't been a firm price set, it's expected that the Ag-Af100 will be in the ballpark of ,000 Usd. This is commonly a low price for such a high end, professional camcorder and is expected that aspiring consumers will also be curious in purchasing.

The specs are pretty impressive: 1080/60i, 50i, 30p, 25p and 24p along with 720/60p, 50p, 30p, 25p and 24p. In other words, it's catering to many dissimilar "feels". As expected, it will be in Avchd format. However, despite rumors, it will be an interlaced image. The bit-rate is 28Mbps which is about the highest in the industry.

The camcorder will highlight a 16:9 Ar Mos image sensor and is switchable in the middle of 60Hz and 50Hz. according to Panasonic

The Af100 maximizes the possible of its high-resolution imager with built-in Nd filtering and dramatically reduced video aliasing.

It will be enchanting to see whether or not a camcorder like this will be able to thrive in the market. If price estimates are true, it should be a hot jobber as the sensor alone at this price is very affordable.
